Anton Palzer has extended his contract with BORA - hansgrohe. After his first three seasons, the former ski mountaineer has firmly established himself within the WorldTour. Following a successful season, Toni Palzer is highly motivated going into the new year and is even considering his gravel premiere.&nbsp;This season, Toni Palzer achieved further milestones in his "new" career as a professional cyclist. The Giro d'Italia was already his second Grand Tour in the books, the TTT at the Vuelta a Burgos was his first time on the podium, and the last race of the season ended with the 30-year-old's first top 10 finish in the GC at a stage race.&nbsp;Toni Palzer: "My journey in cycling continues. I am more than happy that it will continue in this team and in the highest league of the sport. I have by no means reached the peak of my sporting development. I am highly motivated to be a reliable helper for our leaders next season, but I will also be looking for my own opportunities. The 2024 Tour de France will cover a distance of around 3,500 kilometers. For the first time, it will start in Italy, with the finale in Nice also being a premiere at the Tour. In between there are several kilometres of time trial and gravel and over 50,000 meters of altitude.&nbsp;Shortly after the route presentation, Ralph Denk, Team Manager of BORA - hansgrohe, gave his initial assessment: “At first glance, it's a balanced Tour de France. For the fans, it's exciting that the GC favourites have to show themselves straight away in the first week and that the decision about yellow won't likely be made until the final TT. Two TTs and several altitude meters bode well for our plans. It is well known that I am not a fan of cobbled and gravel sectors in Grand Tours. That's what the classics are for, in my opinion.”&nbsp;Rolf Aldag, Head of Sports at BORA - hansgrohe, has already analysed the route: "We know that the Tour start is always nervous. Now add to that the fact that it is also very difficult from a sporting point of view. To plan more specifically, we will definitely look at the Italian stages. There will be plenty of opportunities around Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico in the spring to do our homework."&nbsp;"It won't be a long wait - stage 4 is already a tough one. As a GC rider, it's not enough to just be at 90%. It may be an old saying, but it certainly applies here: on this day you can't necessarily win the Tour, but you can lose it very early on. After that follows an unusual back and forth. It's not a typical clockwise or counterclockwise loop through France. It's more of an Alps-Pyrenees-Alps switch."&nbsp;"The time trials are both hard. Knowledge of the course, pacing strategy, choice of material - everything becomes very important here. The final TT, in particular, is unrhythmic, uphill out of Monaco and downhill into Nice. It could be an advantage that many riders live there and know the course."&nbsp;"The last week is particularly demanding and offers many chances for a preliminary decision. If you already have the chance to make up time here, you’d be sure to take it and avoid the decision on the final day."&nbsp;"The 2024 Tour has some extremely high mountains. There will be a lot of riding above 2000 metres. Who will do well at that altitude? Not many riders can, and it's the step up to the 2000 metre mark that quite often makes a difference among the climbers. We'll adjust to that, and the altitude training camps will be even more important now in our preparation."

Als GC-Fahrer reicht es nicht, zu Beginn nur bei 90% zu sein. Es ist zwar ein alter Spruch, aber hier gilt er: An diesem Tag kannst Du die Tour noch nicht gewinnen, aber schon ganz früh verlieren. Danach folgt ein ungewöhnliches Hin und Her. Es ist keine typische Runde durch Frankreich im oder gegen den Uhrzeigersinn. Es ist eher ein Alpen-Pyrenäen-Alpen-Wechsel.“&nbsp;„Die Zeitfahren sind beide schwer. Streckenkenntnis, Pacing-Strategie, Materialwahl - alles wird sehr wichtig. Gerade das Schlusszeitfahren ist unrhythmisch, berghoch aus Monaco raus und bergrunter nach Nizza rein. Es kann ein Vorteil sein, dass viele Rennfahrer dort wohnen und den Kurs kennen."&nbsp;&nbsp;„Die letzte Woche ist echt anspruchsvoll und bietet viele Chancen für eine Vorentscheidung. Wer hier schon die Chance hat, Zeit gutzumachen, wird sie auch nutzen und so der Entscheidung am Schlusstag aus dem Weg gehen.“&nbsp;„Die Tour 2024 hat einige extrem hohe Berge. Es wird viel über 2000 Meter gefahren. Wer kommt in dieser Höhe gut zurecht? Das sind nicht viele Fahrer und gerade der Schritt an die 2000 Meter-Marke macht ganz oft einen Unterschied bei den Kletterern. Wir werden uns darauf einstellen, die Höhentrainingslager in der Vorbereitung werden jetzt noch wichtiger.“

Marc Lamberts joins the coaching team at BORA - hansgrohe

Places 2 and 4 in the GC, a stage win and the win of the team classification - it was a successful Tour of Türkiye for BORA - hansgrohe.&nbsp;The 3rd stage with the difficult mountain-top finish on the Babadağ decided over the GC. Ben Zwiehoff climbed there and in the overall standings to 2nd place, which he did not give up until the final day in Istanbul. For Zwiehoff it is already the second podium at the end of a stage race this season after his 2nd place at the Czech Tour.&nbsp;Ben Zwiehoff: „I am very happy with my second place. We knew that it would be very difficult to get the jersey from Lutsenko. But we tried everything and attacked again and again every day. Overall, it was a super race for us. Ben Zwiehoff finishes Tour of Türkiye in 2nd place

BORA - hansgrohe has signed Filip Maciejuk to its roster for the upcoming season. The 24-year-old Polish rider joins the German WorldTeam as a fast-paced all-rounder.&nbsp;In the junior category, Maciejuk showed his TT qualities by winning the bronze medal in the individual time trial at the World Championships in Bergen, as well as two national championship titles in the discipline. Since moving to the WorldTour two years ago, Maciejuk has developed as a reliable rider to support his teammates in one-day races and one-week stage races.&nbsp;Filip Maciejuk: "I am very excited to join BORA - hansgrohe next year. I’d like to develop further in the classics and stage races. I know this will be possible in a team with such big names. I will support the leaders as much as possible and also take my chances when they come. Nico Denz and Matt Walls succeeded in the technical finale of the 5th stage of the Tour of Türkiye. Both took the lead early over the winding final kilometers and gave the sprinters no chance in the 90-degree bends of Bodrum, making for a 1-2 placing for BORA - hansgrohe!&nbsp;After two stage wins in the Giro d'Italia, Nico Denz celebrated his third success of the season today. The opening stage of the six-day Tour of Guangxi (2nd UWT) in southern China was held on a 135.6km long circuit in the town of Beihai. Shane Archbold will join the ranks of Sports Directors at BORA - hansgrohe from next season. The 34-year-old New Zealander announced the end of his pro cycling career a few days ago. Alongside Archbold, Patxi Vila will also return. The Basque was already part of the German team and makes his comeback in 2024.&nbsp;In his new role, Archbold will primarily look after the younger riders in the German WorldTeam.
