The young German impresses at the cycling event in Lombardy with a remarkable solo victory. Noah Lindholm Møller Andersen further highlights GRENKE - Auto Eder’s strong team performance by securing fourth place.

Gianni Bugno, Fabian Cancellara, and Filippo Ganna – a look at the list of past winners of the “2 Giorni Internazionale Juniores di Vertova” highlights the significant status this two-day cycling event holds in the junior racing calendar. This year was no different, with numerous renowned teams, including GRENKE - Auto Eder, taking to the start line for both the Memorial Pietro Merelli and the Trofeo Emilio Paganessi – the two one-day races of the event.

The U19 athletes from Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe played a decisive role in shaping the race on both days. After Paul Fietzke narrowly missed victory at the Memorial Pietro Merelli on Saturday, the young German celebrated a first-place finish at the Trofeo Emilio Paganessi on Sunday – in particularly impressive fashion: Fietzke won as a solo rider with a 1:24-minute lead over Italy’s Pierluigi Garbi. Noah Lindholm Møller Andersen completed the excellent team performance for GRENKE - Auto Eder by finishing in fourth place.

This week, the GRENKE - Auto Eder riders are participating in a training camp in Austria’s Oetztal, before heading to the GP Rüebliland in Switzerland from September 6th to 8th, the next preparatory race for the World Championships in Zurich (September 21st to 29th).

Quotes

“After finishing second on the first day, I knew my legs were in good shape. That’s why I was determined to win on Sunday. I’m aware that some very prominent riders have been successful at the 2 Giorni di Vertova in the past, so I hope this victory is a good omen for my future career. Now, I’m heading to a training camp to prepare as best as I can for the upcoming World Championships in Zurich – my main goal for the season finale.” – Paul Fietzke

“The temperatures were extremely hot on both days, which didn’t make the races any easier. However, the guys made the best of it. On the first day, Paul was already close to victory, losing narrowly in the sprint. On the second day, we were able to control the race well and placed two riders, Noah and Paul, in the decisive breakaway group. Paul eventually broke away from this group and secured a confident solo victory. Noah finished strong in the sprint, taking fourth place – a fantastic overall team result.” – Florian Wallner, Sports Director
